Lake Murray
Paradise Cove On Lake Murray
The Lake Murray Area is Rich in Resources for Your Lifestyle
Lake Murray was one of the largest earthen dams in the World when it was completed on June 30, 1930. Named after the chief engineer, William Murray, who designed it, the lake is 40 miles long and 15 miles wide at the longest and widest points offering 650 miles of prestine shoreline. There’s actually more coastline along Lake Murray than the entire coast of South Carolina.
Although the purpose of the lake is to provide hydroelectric power, many find it the jewel of the Carolinas offering boating, fishing and other water activities throughout the year. There’s plenty to do on the lake with a surrounding area that’s rich in cultural experiences, shopping opportunities and sporting events. Lake Murray is only 15 miles away from Columbia – the capital of South Carolina. The University of South Carolina offers one of the top institutions of higher learning and competitive SEC athletics.
Some of the top healthcare facilities in the Southeast are in the Columbia area providing top medical care for our residents. And many of our residents stay fit with the variety of parks, rivers, walking trails, tennis leagues and more than 30 golf courses to work on your swing.
